Your Pages

Hi Everyone,

I have changed the pages for the grandchildren so that everyone is listed on the left side of the blog. If you recall, I had all of Robert and Goldie’s grandchildren listed under their own parent’s page. However, that meant you had to click on the parent’s page and then look to the right and click on the grandchild’s page.

So now, you will find all direct children and direct grandchildren of Robert and Goldie listed on the left.

So, please, each one, parent or child, login to the control panel and click on manage and page. Put all the real data, such as birth information, order of child you are, all kinds of info about schools, likes, fun, hobbies, etc. I started a few, but have to go look up a lot of birthdays and all that. It will be more helpful if everyone adds all the data they can.

Blog hint about posting and publishing

Hey everybody, this is getting better and better. Just want to remind everybody that when you are finished writing your post or page, be sure to not only save, but to also click on the publish button over beside the save button to the right of the post box. This makes it show up on the blog when you write it.

Otherwise it shows the post as being written when I actually go in and check. Also, feel free to put your categories and tags so everything is easily found.

How to work on your own page

Hi everyone,

Can you believe I finally figured out how to set this so each one can edit your own page. I have changed the settings so that you can go to your own page from the links on the left column. There is a link at the bottom of each page which says edit this page. So you can put all your specifics about your birthday, schools, life events, address, phone number, kids birthdays, memories, etc, etc. on that page.

That is more like a static page which stays. What I hope you do is actually post the information in the post and then just copy and paste it onto your page.

So as a recap. You have Posts and Pages. You can log in and see Write, Manage, Comments. You click on Write and then Post. Then write whatever you want and publish it. Then you can just copy and paste that same thing on to your page by clicking on Manage and select your own page and then paste the same info.

Don’t forget to go just below the post box to put a tag and categories for your posts. This gives ways to link different things together. For instance, if you are Vickie writing about Martha, the categories could be Vickie, Martha.

So just call me if you have trouble. It isn’t very difficult once you go through it once.

As I said before, this is a work in progress.

Everyone, Please put addresses and phone numbers, etc

Hi everybody,

I do hope all of you will put your address, phone number and all that specific info into a post. Then I will transfer to your page of specifics. I know I don’t have Joseph’s address, not sure about a few others.

By the time you read this, Christmas will probably be over. Hope it was great for all.

Your Specifics

Hi again,

Just want to ask that everybody place all your basic background information in a post. Then I will transfer it to your specific page. Since I have already made the individual pages, you won’t be able to edit the page to add this info.

It would be fun if everyone uploaded a baby picture and a current or recent picture for their individual page. Otherwise, I can choose a picture I have and you will have to let me know if you prefer a different one.

By “your specifics”, I mean things like:

Your full name, which child you are (1st, 2nd, etc), day, time, place of birth.

Where you went to school or schools and when graduated, etc., Who and when you married, When kids were born, your hobbies, or interests, what you find fun or enjoy, etc…

How to put pictures on blog

To add pictures to the blog:

1. Login to the dashboard

2. You will see Write, Manage, and Comments

3. Click on Write and then click on post.

4. That brings up a writing box where you can write your information and at the top of the box it has Add media. Click on add image.

5. That brings up a box. If your picture is on your computer, click on browser and that brings up your own computer files. You have to know where your pictures are. Then just click on picture you want to insert. You have options as to alignment, etc.

When you write comments, you can insert your avatar (picture) which will be the same for all comments.
