gary on tommy saving the day

we were living in fairborn ,bessie had two pekenese dogs, they were meaner than mean. mom told us not to go in the front yard because there was no fence. the yard next to pat and bessies had an out house. i heard someone screaming from this outhouse, i was only six or seven and scared to death of them dogs, but i was more scared of mom . well tommy just happened to work at the iga and had taken a smoke break and heard it too. he went to the rescue, one of the little  girls who lived there had climbed up to pee in the hole and fell in and was hanging on. tommy pulled her out of that one.

Larry’s Birth

Larry Lee Cox born January 12, 1949. Robert and Goldie’s 5th child and 3rd son was born in Paintsville, Kentucky at home.

I remember that day. Me and Shirley were locked in a bedroom beside the room Mommy was in. We were four and five years old. The midwife was in the room with Mommy. Of course we could hear some “goings on”. We tried to peek through the keyhole. I remember seeing the bed and Mommy in the bed, but couldn’t see anything else. Then I remember the Midwife coming to the door and letting us see the baby and Mommy. I can’t remember if Daddy was there or where Carl and Tommy were. Maybe, they were in school. Maybe Tommy will remember this.

Some Old Pictures

1958, I think this was in the house that burned.  I have on a dress that Mom had taken me to Dayton to get for the school year.  That also is when we got my coat with the pom-pom ties.  I was too neat and hung it in my closet.  Everything was burned on one side as they hung in the closet.  The closet was near the chimney that caught fire.

In 1961, this looks like a bunch of little geniuses at work.  Not sure at what!  It must have been on a Sunday after church.  Vickie and Martha look all dressed up.

I loved the house on 42 (still do)-when Shirley and Gilbert or even Myrtle was in town I always was at Mama and Papa’s

Otha would bring pizza from Cassanos after she got off work at 3-4am and bring donuts to us-what aunts do for favorite nephews

As Vickie and Martha aged (driving age) we wanted to go with them-but if they were bad we could not tell or we would not go-we should have told—-:)
And the skating parties we went to and then you two went out with— and doors at mom and dads neeeded wd-40-and you know who you are :)
